The fellowship of the Hill is now complete. The newest member of our team is Matt Laine, who will be taking over the role of sports editor for the upcoming year. Matt’s got some great ideas with regards to varsity teams (being pro-Spartans and generating excitement for the games), rec services (encouraging the involvement of every student, at some level, in athletics), and professional sports (everybody’s got an opinion, so let’s provide the forum and get them heard).

Look forward to working with you Matt: welcome to Mars.

Yesterday NASA launched an orbiter to find out more about Mars. Lucky for the orbiter, It’s got seven months of floating through outer space before it gets to the red planet. We at the Hill, on the other hand, only have a few of weeks before impact.

This past week I’ve been moving along at a breakneck pace, but I’m quite enjoying the ride and look forward to sharing it with the rest of you. I went into the office a few days ago and sat crosslegged in the middle of the floor. Then I got up. I was whelmed.

I have also decided on our theme for the second issue. As it is Snider’s last year and as the search committee will be in their final stages of preparing a list of qualities that the new leader should possess, I think that we should have a major theme of leadership. This will, of course, cover the whole gamut, from student leadership to what makes the perfect Christian leader, to Christ’s leadership to academic leadership and, specifically, what sort of leadership Trinity needs as we enter into the next phase of our growth. I want to poll a large number of students and ask them what they think the next President should be like.
