The one crucial factor to flourishing at a place such as TWU is not to be top of the class, to have the most friends, or to win the most accolades. It is to make this place your own.


Pillar yearbook safe for now

On Monday TWUSA council members met as a representative assembly in Fraser Lounge to vote on a motion to suspend the Pillar yearbook for the 2009-2010 school year. After providing a forum for students and other stakeholders to voice their opinions, the council voted on the motion to suspend Pillar. The secret ballot ended in a 4-4 draw, with one member abstaining from voting.

TWU will be receiving $2.6 million in funding from the federal government over the next two years. Announced in August, the Knowledge Infrastructure Program (KIP) will be starting fifteen new infrastructure projects at post-secondary institutions across the province, including three at TWU.


Communications department gets new chair

Dr. Kevin Schut is now the chair of communications, a position that originated in 1989 and was held for 20 years by Dr. Bill Strom. Schut will be the second candidate at TWU to fill the title.


Federal government gives LLC $25K birthday present

This summer, the Government of Canada gave $25,000 of funding to the Laurentian Leadership Centre (LLC) in Ottawa. The funding will be used towards restoration of the historic John R. Booth mansion, located in downtown Ottawa. The Booth Mansion has been the only home the LLC program has known since its inception in the fall of 2002.


Laptops stolen from Robson roommates

On Saturday, Sept. 12 two laptops were stolen from two students in Robson Hall.


Douglas Hall gets new RD

Community life in Douglas Hall will be undergoing a major change as Tim Brown, the new Residence Director (RD), takes over from his predecessor Wes Moerman. Brown will be joining Naomi Downs, the other RD of the building.
