Letter from the Editor
By John Hennenfent in From the Editor, Volume 14 Issue 5
Doing a sexuality issue at a Christian university seems at first quite ridiculous. The Christian understanding of sex holds that Christians are to wait until marriage to engage in sexual activity, and would thus mean young Christian university students like ourselves would really have no use for exploring the multi-faceted issue of sexuality until we are married.
New student group hopes to raise money and awareness for Uganda
By Derek Witten in News, Volume 14 Issue 5
Since 1987, the Government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) have been at war. Led by Joseph Kony, the LRA began as a movement in defense of certain groups within Uganda, but quickly became corrupt. In doing so, it rapidly lost public support and resorted to abducting and indoctrinating children to build its rebel army. Since 1986, it has been estimated that over 10,000 children have been forced into combat, and more than 500,000 people have been forced to live in army-protected displacement camps as a result of the civil war. In 2001, the LRA was officially labeled a terrorist organization by the United States.

Perspectives from Jonathan Mills in Love, Covenant & Meaning

The Bible contains no Hebrew or Greek word that can be translated as “sexuality.” In fact, the word didn’t exist (in reference to human feelings and behaviour) until the late nineteenth century when it was used in a medical textbook. So why do our pastors love to sermonize on the subject?
