Anthropology class conducts survey on 2010 Winter Olympic Games
Dr. Claudia Launhardt and students from her ANTH 101 class have spent the semester preparing a document entitled: “Olympic Survey 2009: Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland’s perceptions of the 2010 Winter Games.”
As stated in the survey’s introduction, the purpose of the study is “to inform members of the City of Vancouver, VANOC [Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympics] and future policy decision makers on the people’s view of the Olympics. It is designed to give a snapshot of opinions towards the Olympics and a better understanding of the needs, concerns and joy for the upcoming Games, regardless of status, age and area where they live.”
Launhardt and her class presented the survey’s findings to VANOC on Nov. 30.
The charts featured here show survey results gathered from Trinity Western University (TWU) and the Downtown Eastside (DTE) of Vancouver. The full document includes survey data from other Lower Mainland communities as well. Approximately 350 people were interviewed in total.
