Harper Lee: To Kill A Mockingbird

You’ve probably seen the description “blameless” in the Psalms. Yet the literal Hebrew translation comes closer to “one who walks in integrity.” No finer example of this exists in English literature than Atticus Finch. There’s much that could be said on its themes or plot or flavour to convince your readership. But its truth makes this novel worthy of your time. It captures the hard reality of trying to live blamelessly in a world that seeks to steal innocence and replace it with unspeakable suffering, but offers the hope of greater wisdom. If, after reading it, this book doesn’t resonate with you in some way, I recommend serious reflection as to why that is.
