Sea Wolf White Water: White Bloom (Dangerbird 2009)

Sea Wolf’s recently released album White Water, White Bloom is a marvelous showing from the Los Angeles based band. The lead vocalist, Alex Brown Church, croons dreamy lyrics that seem to hover over the smooth indie folk rhythms.

Sea Wolf employs a variety of sounds on White Water, from harpsichord through to crunching electric guitar. They all seem to march together forming powerful anthemic songs. The album is produced by Mike Mogis (Monsters of Folk, Bright Eyes), which is likely the source of the indie folk vibe.

You will likely find songs like “Wicked Blood” trapped in your head, but in a way that you will not want it to leave. The whole album flows well, each track blends into the next and you might find you’ve listened to the short thirty-nine minutes, fifty-nine seconds and want to start it all over again.
