You Say Party! We Say Die! Is a self-described, new-wave, 5-piece band from Abbotsford, B.C. Their third album, XXXX, is a departure from the dance-punk that they have brought to places as far as Berlin and Japan. The four-letter word refers to “love” and lyrics for the album draws from this theme.

Produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sarah, New Pornographers), the album was released in the US last week, February 9th. At first listen, the sound evokes images of spontaneous dancing on a sunny spring-cleaning Sunday.

Standout tracks from XXXX are “There is XXXX (Within my Heart),” and “Laura Palmer’s Prom.”

“If it was 1983, [Laura Palmer’s Prom] would be a massive hit” states reviewer Ben Schum.

XXXX is a relatively laid-back listen with bursts of energy in “Glory” and “Cosmic Wanship Avengers,” and could be a great soundtrack to your next home fashion shows featuring newly purchased
vintage styles.
