Laurell Hubick

Local singer-songwriter Laurell Hubick is as down to earth as her MySpace page might suggest. After winning “Vancouver Idol” with her infectious, bubbly personality, and being a part of the first season of Canadian Idol, she recorded two albums. The first, a worship album entitled Into Your Love, won her a Vibe award for the song “Great ‘I Am’.” Not afraid of mixing the sacred and the secular, the second was more mainstream, entitled The Fool In Me.

Her sound has been compared to a blend of Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, and Tristan Prettyman. And while sharing a sound similar to those already established artists, she is unique enough to carve her own name in the music industry.

Drawing audiences in with her angel-meets-jazz voice, sweet spirited songs, and acoustic grooves, Hubick has spent most of the last four years touring across Canada and the West coast, playing both church venues as well as cafes and clubs.

Hubick will be performing with Rachelle Kostelyk at Trinity Western University on Thursday, Nov. 2 in the Lower Caf at 8 pm. Admission is free with valid a TWU ID, and is $2 for non-students. Proceeds will go to Invisible Children.
