The Northern Lights
Great, glorious, green rainbows dance on the midnight dance floor
Beautiful flames of misty light illuminate the freckly sky
By and by they fly
High above our earthly lives.
Streaks of watercolour paint electrify the endless sky
Like soaring eagles opening their wings to flaunt their shimmering colours
The trees long to touch them
The stars marvel at their beauty.
Yet, as quickly as they come, they depart.
Like a glimpse of the colours under a dancer’s skirt.
The mountain is dark again.
Who knows when our next date with the lights will be?
