Mason elected for PSPA, no winner for HKIN

June 29, 2005

Jonathan Mason, a third-year linguistics major, was elected to TWUSA as the Professional Studies and Performing Arts faculty representative, receiving 50 of 150 votes. Lisa Joy Lindahl and Eric Pilon also ran in the election. Two different candidates ran in the regular election, but the “no-candidate” option received the most votes.

“I really want to be involved with the heads of the departments and making sure I am accessible to pass information between students and faculty,” said Mason. “I also want to further my own understanding of the arts in our lives and to promote that to TWUSA and the rest of Trinity.”

The Human Kinetics faculty did not elect a representative. Only 38 persons voted in the election, producing a 19-19 tie between Francisco Grajales and the “no candidate option.”

“I think very few people knew about the election,” said Grajales. “If HKIN has a student population between 200 and 400, that would mean that not even 10 percent of the people voted.” Grajales stills wants to be involved in TWUSA and plans to apply for the position of Associate Director of Services.
