Exit Plans: Austin Jean

What he’s doing:
Working for a Conservative MP in the Ottawa region, Pierre Poilievre as the Case Manager. He is the liaison between constituents and Ministers’ offices.

How it came about:
“It was all because of the LLC program. I never intended to stay here, but I proved myself in my internship and it led to an unexpected job offer.”

How long it took to make it a reality:
“A couple months. I was offered the job in November, but decided to take it at the beginning of December, and then had to figure out how to move everything out here, drop out of school, etc. You could also say that it started when I started Trinity, but being an Education student, politics was never an interest of mine.”

Why this is so exciting:
“I love the people I work with and the pay is good – I will hopefully be able to pay off my huge student loan in a couple years. Also, I love Ottawa; it’s a beautiful city, as cold as it may be.”

What is in store for the future:
“I’m committed to two years, but who knows where I am going from there. I’m hoping that one day I will be able to finish my B.Ed and go back into teaching, but my options are infinite.”
