Hootenanny: Au Carnivale

Every spring Trinity Western University students huddle together, often in the rain, outside the gym, waiting to get in to one of the most anticipated TWUSA events of the year. That’s right, it’s time for Hootenanny!
On March 11th at 7:00 the show will get underway, hosted this year by Mike Battie from Total Entertainment Network based in Vancouver. Keeping with the carnival theme for this year’s show, Battie is a performer whose talents include juggling fire and knives while riding a unicycle.
If students were excited about last year’s door prize of a car, this year raises the bar by offering a draw for an iPad. Along with the iPad draw, TWUSA will be offering a mini-carnival after the show, complete with games, cotton candy, and popcorn, and it has been said that the carnival games will give additional chances to win the iPad.
To kick off the night, a dance scene from the new TWU theater department’s production of The Baccae will be performed and, as always, there will be great talent acts by students all trying to please judges Lynden Johnson, Julia Church, and Arend Stikwerda for the cash prize.
The event is free, but TWUSA suggests bringing a donation of $2.00 which will be given to support people in need in Haiti.
