Student Handbook Finds a New Home

For the first time in its history, the TWU student handbook will not be distributed to students as a print edition. Rather the student handbook will now primarily be accessed through its website, www.twu.ca/studenthandbook.

The decision to change the way students access the student handbook is viewed as an economic and environmentally responsible decision. “Having it online will make more accessible to students and save on printing costs,” said Kelvin Gartley, Director of Community Life.

Last year, printing hard copies of the student handbook cost the university $3648. Patti White, Office Co-ordinator for Student Life says “The new website has a format that makes it clearer and more exciting to read, as well as being catchy and colourful.”

The student handbook has always been available on TWU’s website, but over the summer the university’s communications department teamed up with Community Life to build a new student handbook website that was more accessible and appealing to students. With a new website completed, the time came for Student Life to cancel the print edition.

So far the move has been communicated to students through mass emails and general campus announcements.
