TWU’s Spirit of Christmas right around the corner
The holiday season is almost among us
You can almost begin to notice the change in season with the crisp cool air, cashmere wool coats, and the hubbabaloo of festive traditions springing up here and there. The 4thannual Great West Life Spirit of Christmas Celebration will take place this year on December 4th and 5th from 4:00-9:00pm at Trinity Western University.
The Spirit of Christmas has been an annual hit over the past three years bringing in people from the community to TWU’s campus. The festive event will include concerts by local and professional musicians, an outdoor living nativity, a petting zoo, a craft fair, Christmas tree decorating contest and more.
“It seems like just yesterday that the idea of hosting the Great West Life Spirit of Christmas was discussed. Now it’s become a favourite event for families, members of the greater public and the TWU community during the Christmas season. We as a production team are excited to once again provide the opportunity to kick off the Christmas season in this way for all attendees,” said Michael Wipf, producer of the Spirit of Christmas.
This year will be the second time that TWU hosts a Christmas craft fair. Artisans and crafters will be selling their work and by purchasing them, the profit goes towards local charities.
Musical talents in attendance at The Spirit of Christmas include new indie recording artists Zaac Pick and Rachelle Kostelyk, Vancouver VOC Soul Gospel Choir, Showstoppers and MEI Choirs. In addition to shows, TWU’s theatre production, Halo – a Canadian Christmas comedy, will also be playing during the two-day event for everyone to get more into the holiday season.
Be involved in TWU’s Christmas spirit; free admission is being offered for the event, although donations are recommended, with all proceeds going towards the Salvation Army.
“We are working hard to guarantee another successful event at this year’s Spirit of Christmas – It’s going to be a great couple of days. Folks will not want to miss it! Now all we need is some snow,” said Michael Wipf.
