On February 18th, right before the Olympic reading break, nine students were elected for the TWUSA 2010-11 representative positions.
The winners are:
Senior Representative – Danny Couburn (63 votes)
Junior Representative – Asiba Naibkhil (39 votes)
Sophomore Representative – Dane Lloyd (28 votes)
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Representative – Brooke Goossen (50 votes)
Faculty of Natural and Applied Technical Sciences Representative – Justin Baerg (14 votes)
Faculty of Performing Arts and Professional Studies Representative – Braden Jones (35 votes)
School of Nursing Representative – Rachel Grant (47 votes)
School of Education Representative – Rianna Van de Kamp (15 votes)
School of Business Representative – Neil Barkman (20 votes)
Out of nine positions only two – Faculty of Performing Arts and Professional Studies and School of Nursing representatives – were contested.
In addition, the percentages for students voting involvement was significantly lower than the TWUSA executive elections. “Nursing received a 30% and everyone else averaged around 12% including senior rep because both current junior and seniors could vote for that,” said Jason Brandl, TWUSA Vice President.
Now that the 2010-11 TWUSA representatives are set, they can sit tight until the end of the semester when TWUSA will hold a meeting where the new council officially takes over and will pass their summer budget.
