For more than 85 years the American College Health Association (ACHA) has been an advocate and leadership organization for college and university health. Trinity Western University joined the ACHA in the fall of 2006 in order to better understand and serve the health needs of our students. The National College Health Assessment (NCHA) survey is one tool that the ACHA uses to accomplish this task.
The NCHA is a nationally recognized research survey that assists in collecting precise data about our students’ habits, behaviors, and perceptions on a wide range of health issues. In spring 2007 TWU participated in the NCHA survey by conducting a randomized survey of 1500 students. Both married and single students were included.
Initial analysis of the responses, in relation to sexual activity, reveals an interesting discrepancy between perceived and actual behavior.
We intend to provide further information from the survey related to our students’ health behaviors and attitudes in the near future.
