A student-led newspaper from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kansas has gained wide attention and praise after they broke a story that uncovered a scam. As the story goes, the Pittsburg Community Schools announced it had hired Amy Robertson as the high school principal, but the students had some concerns about her credentials. The school´s newspaper, The Booster Redux, led a journalistic investigation, and found out several discrepancies in Mrs. Robertson´s experience. She allegedly got her masters and doctorate degree from Corllins University, a questionable institution with no physical address and several complains of illegitimacy. She claimed to have earned her bachelors of fine arts in the University of Tulsa, but the student checked and found that the university does not offer that type of degree. The story was featured in The Booster Redux and less than a week later, the board of education announced that Mrs. Robertson had resigned.
