Spirit of Christmas

December 6, 2006

ast Friday and Saturday, Trinity Western University hosted over 4,600 members of the community, who came to participate in “Spirit of Christmas,” TWU’s contribution to Langley’s Christmas in the Valley.

The first event of its kind, the celebration included presentations of TWU Theatre’s “Fixing Christmas” and an elaborate living nativity. As well, a variety of musical acts, from the Langley Ukulele Association to gospel singer Crystal Hicks, performed on the main stage in the Atrium.

From all accounts, the weekend was a rousing success. “There are little flaws here and there, but overall people are enjoying it and it is going fabulously well,” said fourth year student Joanie Isaacson, who coordinated volunteers for the children’s Christmas activity center, which was located in the cafeteria.

“It’s one of the best things that could happen to Trinity,” said President Jonathan Raymond. He sees the event as crucial for uniting the “town and the gown,” bridging gaps that can form between the university and its surrounding areas.
