The sports slice

Welcome to the last Sports Slice of the year. There was lots of student participation, which was awesome! Lots of little comments here and there made this job a bonus. So, for this last issue of Mars’ Hill for the year:

The madness of March is upon us. Huge fantasy pools around here are the talk of the school. My bracket is awful, but my Elite 8 is still intact.

The World Baseball Championship has more problems than the TWU Men’s Titans soccer team with injuries. Through it all, Canada lost in the first round, after losses to Italy and USA. I don’t have a rooting interest at all, although it was good to see some Japanese students watching their team. Thank goodness someone cares.

Vancouver Canucks fans are gearing up for the playoffs. How it will end up is anyone’s guess. Some Vancouver fans have noted wanting to play the Flames in the first round rather then the Blue Jackets or Blackhawks, which makes no sense to me, but I also am on record for saying that Vancouver would not make the playoffs, so I totally support “Canuck Nation” on this one.

The Montreal Canadiens are slipping, the Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t looked as good in years, the Senators are still battling for consistency, the Flames are hot, and the Oilers are looking better then average. This should be a good playoffs.
