Three-peat?

In years past, the Bombers have dominated the opposition to the point where a loss would be viewed by fans as a major surprise. The team has won two championships in a row, and three out of the last four seasons.

This year, the competition has been a little more challenging. With one game remaining this season, the Bombers again sit among the league’s best with a 17-6 record. The TWU Renegades and CAC Warriors, however, are challenging the Bombers for top spot in the Campbell Division, while the Willingdon Avalanche aren’t far behind.

Regardless of which team clinches the best regular season record, it will all boil down to what happens in the post season.

The orange-hot Bombers, who have compiled a 9-2 record since the Christmas break, enter the playoffs with their eyes set on their third consecutive championship.

Of the two losses since the holidays, both came against the Wales Division-leading North Delta Knights. While some TWU fans may get nervous of the idea of the Bombers and Knights playing each other in the playoffs, the Bombers welcome the challenge.

“They have two really good forwards – tough players,” commented Bombers forward Curtis Hart. “[We’d] key in on them and protect our defensive zone and get our pucks on net.”

With both clubs playing as well as they are, a potential championship match-up between the two teams seems like a definite possibility.

The Bombers last regular season game will be played against the PCC Coyotes on March 28 at 11:00 p.m. The last time the two teams played each other was Dec. 6, when the Desert Dogs took the two points in a 5-4 victory.
