Tonner’s Adventures

We just got back from an awesome trip down to Utah to play some really talented teams in Utah Valley, BYU and Utah State. All three teams had amazing facilities, with stadiums seating for 22,000 people. Utah State however had the best atmosphere. Their fans truly epitomized class and respect, never wasting an opportunity to tell us that yes, we were the losing team and yes, they were the winning team. They also did a marvellous job of not only targeting our team as a whole, but individuals with truly insulting remarks, stretching from we suck to resembling child sitcom stars.

With a lot of down time on trips, the boys like to find things to really let them relax and step back from all the travel and stresses that long bus and plane rides encompass. So while others were napping, playing checkers and backgammon, I was establishing a spacious, yet affordable luxury diner on Café World. This weekend I brewed three roast chickens, two pot roasts, five party sized guacamole and chips, and a plethora of raspberry cheesecakes and cheeseburgers. People Helping People café – it’s a movement.

With Canada West play kicking off at home this Friday, it has been an extremely stressful few weeks in preparation. Our teams looking particularly poised, our going 2-0 on this road trip was huge with Canada West going through one of its deepest years and any loss posing a tremendous effect on playoff aspirations. I’m hoping to see a packed out gym this Friday/Saturday to get our home opener starting off right.
