The Titans men’s hockey team struck with cupid’s arrow into the hearts and minds of both their fans and their coach on Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 win over the league’s top ranked team, SFU. The win moves the team to a 9-9-1 record, as they continue their push to a successful finish to the season, vying for second spot in league standings. The win was defined through strong goaltending by JP Chapman, and opportunistic goal scoring by the likes of Andrew Herringer, and Matt Chaput.

The Trinity Western Titans played their first PAK Cup game this past weekend against the SFC Rangers. The Titans came into the game with a record of 8-6-2 while the Rangers entered at 11-4-1. The teams played on a night where pouring rain fell during the entire night. The Titans controlled the game early on, who had a couple glorious opportunities to take the lead. In the second half, the Titans began to slow. The Rangers hit the crossbar off a header in the box and also just missed a 25-yard strike that sent goaltender Tyler Rienas into the air. After 90 minutes, the teams went straight to PK’s. The Titans missed their first three shots, but managed to only be down 2-0. Justin Rivard scored the fourth kick before Rienas robbed the Rangers shooter with a diving right hand save. Simon Steuenberg then scored for the Titans who was followed by a Rangers failed attempt over the net, making the score 2-2 after five kicks. In the end, Jori Dueck scored for the Titans before Rienas saved the final shot, giving the Titans a 1-0 victory.
